Ledger Device Setup Guide: Get Started

This guide outlines the essential steps to initialize your new Ledger hardware wallet. **Always follow the instructions displayed on the device screen.**

**CRITICAL WARNING:** Your 24-word Recovery Phrase is the only backup of your funds. Write it down **on paper only**, keep it secure, and **NEVER** share it digitally or with anyone. Ledger will never ask for it.

Phase 1: Initialize Your Device

STEP 1 **Power On and Connect**

Connect your Ledger device to your computer using the provided USB cable. The device will typically display a welcome message like "Welcome to Ledger" or "Set up as new device." Follow the on-screen instructions, using the buttons to navigate.

STEP 2 **Choose PIN Code**

Select the "Set up as new device" option. You will be prompted to choose a PIN code. Use the device buttons to select a strong 4 to 8-digit PIN code. You must confirm the PIN code twice. **Remember this PIN!**

STEP 3 **Record Recovery Phrase**

Your device will now display your unique 24-word Recovery Phrase, one word at a time. **Write these 24 words down in order** on the provided Recovery Sheet. Do not skip any words. This step is the most critical for the security of your crypto assets.

STEP 4 **Confirm Recovery Phrase**

The device will ask you to confirm several words from your Recovery Phrase. This is to ensure you have written it down correctly. Navigate through the alphabet and select the correct word for each prompt. Once confirmed, the device will display "Your device is ready."

Phase 2: Install Ledger Live

Once your device is initialized, the next step is to install and use the official Ledger Live application. Download Ledger Live **ONLY** from the official Ledger website to ensure you get the legitimate software.
